Tray 4 - 8th December.
This tray has been the tightest fit yet, in itself thats reassuring that I am not doing this for nothing and something is actually happening. I changed up a few hours earlier than I should have, because I was going out on the following evening and wanted to feel a little more comfortable. It worked, I think I am beginning to get the hang of this. No soreness of my mouth or gums with this one either.
There was some tooth tenderness noticeable on taking tray out for eating and cleaning - my lateral incisors and the front teeth top and bottom - so I just ate lightly for the first 48hrs. Now I am at day 5 with this one, it's settled and has become an old friend. ( of course just till the next one!). Not any point taking pics at this stage as I cannot honestly see any changes.
Going away on holidays for a few weeks to visit family down south and taking the next 2 trays with me - till I get back .. Merry Christmas everyone .. stay safe and make it a good one!
(This time next year I should be finished!)

Day 33 Tray 3
Nov 22nd '08 - Yesterday's visit - Had the attachments put on my teeth and not too sure if it was shaving or just polishing my teeth. ( I think polishing ) I need to ask next time I see him. No real pain, just some discomfort when the trays were applied over the top. He had lots of trouble getting them over the attachments and oh boy did I have trouble getting them off. In the end resorted to using a crochet hook to get under them for them to release. I thought for sure I would lose an attachment (button) but no .. they remained stuck in place. Phewww.
How do I feel? Well the buttons are very feelable and rough in my mouth (without the guard on ).. and its taken all of the last 24 hrs to get used to this feeling of them against my lips. My friends say that they aren't too noticeable but to me I think they are. They are bigger than I had imagined but I realize something has to apply pressure to get movement.
I am hoping this stage goes quickly .. never wished my life away before .. but .. a first for everything!! I don't go back for 7 weeks now and have the trays up to number 6.

Day18
November 7th - Hasn't been a very pleasant experience losing two teeth. I now realize how much I depended on them for eating and talking! My diet has been very bland the last two days as I can't bite over that area where the teeth are gone! I feel like a gappy ten yr old who had too many sweets and lost the teeth over night .. 'cept the tooth fairy didn't pay me a visit.
I find it hard to conceive that my other teeth are going to move that much to close the spaces left? A friend at work had the same RX many years ago where the gaps have never completely closed - I do hope that isn't me!
Also it's difficult to brush my teeth and floss properly at the moment ...as well.
Hope they heal soon.

Day 16
November 5th - Appointment with the Dentist today for removal of two lateral teeth to make room for the ones in front to move back. I was very nervous but after 4 injections of local anaesthetic I am as numb as and didn't feel a thing other than tugging when the teeth came out. 6 hrs later I am finally able to feel my nose and lips again. What a weird sensation! I am still oozing a little from the sockets and have them packed inside the invisalign trays. Hope I don't have to go anywhere because I look seriously like a vampire and I am too late for Halloween.. lol.
I was 'sposed to work but have swapped my shift for tonight as I definitely am in some pain! Not looking forward to removing the trays or eating tonight.
Bleeding has settled - managed a light meal and heading off to bed early.

Day 11
October 31.. Set 2 Wooo I tore the tray this morning getting it out .. not much.. but enough to make it feel uncomfortable in my mouth .. so I made a decision to change to set 2. It's only a couple of days early so it shouldn't make too much difference. I have read that the 1st 2 - 4 days of each new tray your teeth are moving and the rest of the time of the 2 wks it's holding them in place, waiting for the bone to strengthen, not too sure how correct that is, but will discuss it with my Ortho at my next visit.
The trays are so much tighter and I still haven't had pain as such but with the discomfort I needed to take a couple of Panadol ortho .. they are a bit stronger and worked well.
I also have experienced a painful mouth ulcer at the frenulum area where the tray is rubbing. Using SM33 is helping heaps. Filed it down a little on the edges and that eased the pressure there.
I am going to have a go at posting some pic's of my teeth in the next few days .. not too sure how I will go as I am new to this blogging.
Cleaning them .. I have found a small children's toothbrush and toothpaste works well. I also am using Polident denture tabs (mint ones) every couple of days .. this is working well with no visible change in the clearness of the Invisalign tray.
My dental hygiene is the best its ever been and I brush floss and rinse with mouthwash after every meal .. my teeth feel clean as!
I will most likely lose weight as I am skipping my normal snacks.. too much trouble to take the trays out an extra time .. plus I dont want to lose precious minutes when my teeth could be that much straighter at the end!

Day 8
October28th. It's been a week today, now the weeks are stretched ahead of me ( I can't wait for the end result) I haven't had one single person at work notice the aligners in my mouth, unless I mention it to them first. They are amazed at how invisible they are. The only thing I do notice - as did they - and that is that my lisp is more pronounced at times.
I have been keeping the trays in for a maximum of 22 - 23 hrs so far and pleased with that. The dribbling appears to have settled down ( thank god .. I was beginning to feel like a rabid dog! )LOL
I have to make a note that some people on finding out I was doing the treatment have been very rude enough to suggest that at my age - it's a waste of money .. the comment appears to be that after all I will be dead in a few years!! I find it unbelievable what some people say and am glad my mother taught me manners! Shakes my head.. and I can only guess that if I went on a cruise with the $6000 no one would say a word??
My sons are happy I am doing this and so am I and that is the main thing.
My GSOH tells me .. at least when I am in my coffin my smile will be wonderful ... grinz!!

Day2 Invisalign
October 22nd Had a feeling of extreme panic today and wanted to rip the trays out of my mouth, I guess it's getting used to feeling them continuously in my mouth. ( I suffer with claustrophobia)
I had a difficult nights sleeping .. dribbling all over the place .. felt like a baby!! Thank goodness I sleep alone. :)
Getting the aligner trays out is getting a little easier now as I am slowly finding the best method and getting used to it.. I felt like I was going to rip my nails off to start off with! I ease them off from the back at both sides and then work forwards and they pop off.

Starting off - Invisalign Day1
October the 21st .. The idea of keeping a diary is mainly for me so I keep record of how I progress and be able to note the changes, but if it helps anyone else I will be pleased.
It was a huge decision to go ahead as I am in my late 50's and wonder if I am doing the right thing, it's always been a dream of mine to have a beautiful smile with straight teeth, most people won't be honest and tell you that your teeth could look nicer, I have only had one person say this and I thank her as that was what helped to make my decision.
my journey. I have been given a treatment time of 20 months, 31 upper trays and 27 lower. I have read a lot of other peoples blogs and feel pretty confident, as they give lots of tips for care and how to cope over the next year of my life. (thanks everyone) I suggest anyone contemplating Invisalign should do their homework well as it's expensive and time consuming, and you need to commit, in my opinion worth it for the end results.
Home from having the Ist set of Invisalign trays put in. They feel pretty good although they were pretty hard for my Orthodontist to fit on. Lunch time came and my first attempt at getting them off was very difficult, it's hard to get my nails in under the rim to lift as I don't have very long ones being a nurse. At last they popped and I breathed a sigh of relief.. I am sure it has to get easier.
I am feeling lots of pressure but no pain as such. At night taking them off for the evening meal my teeth are feeling bruised and I am actually happy about that, because that means it must be working already.. Yayyyy!
